On Saturday September 16th, the Hilltop city gets to celebrate all things Bluegrass as the 4th Annual Hilltop Bluegrass festival rolls into town. The event promises to be a fun packed day of good music, food and community.
As with the three festival’s that have followed before four bands will perform throughout the day. Those bands have traveled from far and wide and are considered some of the best in Bluegrass circles. The first band is Zink & Company who hail from Massachusetts. The second has traveled the farthest and took the trip all the way from Tennessee to play in the Hilltop city and they are called Dreamchatcher. The third is a returning act that are from Connecticut and were very popular last year, the Zolla Boys, like all the bands featured, are very talented. The fourth band hails from Maine and are aptly called Borderline.
Dedicated To Dennis French
This year the Greater Somersworth Chamber of Commerce who are responsible for this feast of Bluegrass have decided to dedicate the entire event to Dennis French who passed away earlier this month. Dennis who was the loving husband of Anne French who is the Chair of the Great Chamber of Somersworth was a musician who was passionate about his music. His induction into the New Hampshire Country Music Associated Hall of Fame, was an award he treasured. During the day donations will be taken in his memory to the Sheldon Parshley Scholarship Fund at the Chamber booth.
Need Another Reason To Attend?
The gates will open at 9.00am at the Memorial Drive entrance to the football field on Saturday and the event will kick off at 10am. Throughout the day the four bands will perform and there will also be food vendors, fun and it looks like it is going to be perfect weather….
